This is a new outreach started by Calvary Chapel of Lafayette, with the purpose to provide Baby Showers to expecting or new mothers in need. The primary purpose of this program is to provide a new mother and baby with gifts that all new moms find useful. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a baby shower. The secondary purpose is to make a church home available to a new family that may be searching for a place to worship.
The shower will be held at a decorated Fellowship Hall at Calvary Chapel (NOTE: Due to fire, location of showers TBD). There will be cake and beverages. The mother is welcome to invite her own guests -just let us know how many so there is enough food and drink. Guests attending the party will be bringing gifts to the new mother and baby. There is no obligation by the mother to the church or to the guests.
Many things must still happen for this outreach to be successful. Here are some of the needs:
- Mothers/babies are needed to be showered with gifts
- Volunteers are needed to
- Bake or buy a cake or other food
- Bring or make beverages
- Set up and take down decorations
- Enjoy the shower (don't forget a gift)
- Participate in Activities during shower
- Demonstrate how to give a baby a bath, etc, etc??
- Come up with ideas for helpful games
- Come up with ideas for encouraging games
- Monetary donations could be used to purchase gifts
- Donations of wrapped gifts to present to mother/baby (PLEASE- no used gifts)
